Understanding Professional Guardianship

Professional guardianship refers to the legal authority given to an individual or organization to make decisions and coordinate services for individuals with cognitive disabilities who are unable to make decisions on their own. The purpose of professional guardianship is to ensure the well-being and protection of individuals who may lack the capacity to manage their own personal, financial, or healthcare affairs.

As a professional guardianship company, our role is to act in the best interests of the individual under guardianship, advocating for their rights and providing support in various aspects of their life. This can include making medical decisions, managing finances, arranging for housing, and accessing necessary services and resources. The ultimate goal is to enhance the quality of life and promote the individual’s independence to the extent possible.
